What You’ll Love About This Dip
If you love pickles, specifically fried pickles, then this is the dip for you! It is full of chopped pickles and fresh dill. This fried pickle dip’s “fried” part comes from toasted Panko crumbs. They had the perfect extra crunch to the dip. Usually, fried pickles come with a side of Ranch. This dip has the Ranch flavor mixed right in! It’s zesty, creamy, and sour.
Ingredients for Fried Pickle Ranch Dip
- Whipped Cream Cheese – Purchase pre-whipped cream cheese at the grocery store or use an electric hand mixer to whip a block of cream cheese.
- Sour Cream – Thin the dip a bit with sour cream. It adds delicious flavor and makes the creamy base better for dipping with chips. Substitute with Greek yogurt if you prefer.
- Ranch Seasoning – Use a packet of Ranch seasoning or make homemade Ranch seasoning. Ranch dressing mix contains onion powder, dill, parsley, garlic powder, dried chives, celery salt, and dried buttermilk powder.
- Dill Pickles – You can’t have Dill Pickle Dip without real bits of dill pickle! Chop up your favorite brand of kosher dill pickles for this tangy dip.
- Pickle Juice – Add more pickle flavor with a splash of dill pickle juice straight from the jar! The dip doesn’t contain any vinegar, except for the pickle juice. Since vinegar is a key component of pickles, it’s a much-needed addition.
- Garlic – Use garlic powder or minced fresh garlic. I prefer fresh garlic.
- Panko Bread Crumbs (Toasted) – Toasted breadcrumbs add an extra crunch and the fried flavor to this fried pickle ranch dip.
- Lemon Juice – Freshly squeezed lemon juice adds a bit of acidity to this delicious dip.
- Fresh Dill – A little fresh dill adds tons of extra flavor to this simple dip.
- Salt – Every savory dip needs a little sprinkle of salt.
- Pepper – A little spice from fresh black pepper helps round out the flavors of the dip.
How to Make Fried Pickle Ranch Dip
This creamy dip is the perfect snack for your next party. Its delicious blend of juicy pickles, fresh herbs, and creamy cheese makes it the ideal crowd-pleasing dip.
Step One – Heat the Panko bread crumbs on medium-low heat in a small dry skillet until golden brown. Stir consistently to keep the breadcrumbs from burning. If you stir the breadcrumbs often, you shouldn’t need any melted butter or oil in the skillet.
Step Two – Next, whip six ounces of cream cheese using a hand mixer or stand mixer. Or use whipped cream cheese from the grocery store.
Why Use Whipped Cream Cheese?
Whipping adds air pockets to the cream cheese. This gives it a lighter and airier texture. Whipping the cream cheese makes it easier to stir. And it makes the dip creamier overall.
Step Three – Add the cream cheese and sour cream to a medium bowl and stir with a rubber spatula. Whipped cream cheese is easier to stir, so you should not need an electric mixer for this step.
Step Four – Next, stir in the Ranch seasoning. Combine thoroughly and don’t leave any dry spots remaining.
Step Five – Stir in a cup of chopped pickles. Use your favorite dill pickle spears, dill chips, or whole pickles. Add the minced garlic, pickle juice, and lemon juice as well. Stir until well incorporated.
Step Six – Next, add fresh dill. The fresh dill is really what sets this dip over the top. It is fragrant and delicious. Fresh dill doesn’t taste as strong as dried dill, so it has the best flavor.
Step Seven – Finally, mix in the Panko crumbs. Set a small amount aside as garnish for later. Stir the toasted crumbs into the dip until well-coated.
Step Eight – Transfer this delicious Dill Pickle Dip into a serving bowl. Sprinkle the remaining Panko crumbs, a bit of fresh dill, and finely diced pickles over the top of the dip.
Since this is called “Fried Pickle Ranch Dip” I also added a fried pickle topping. Fresh Gourmet makes Crispy Dillies, which are little pickle-flavored crispy pieces. They are the PERFECT addition to this dip!
What to Serve With Fried Pickle Ranch Dip
Fried Pickle Ranch Dip pairs best with a salty and crunch chip. Thicker chips, like kettle chips, or wavy potato chips with ridges hold up best for dipping! Here are several other ideas:
- Pickle-flavored Potato Chips
- Pretzel Chips
- Bagel Chips
- Pita Chips
- Fresh Veggies
How to Store This Dip
Store fried pickle dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Keep in mind that the Panko crumbs, or any crispy toppings, will lose their crunch in the fridge. The dip will still be delicious. It just won’t have that crunch.
Can I Make Fried Pickle Ranch Dip in Advance?
Absolutely! One of the best things about a cold dip is that they are great for preparing in advance! The flavors have longer to meld together too. So it will taste better! The only thing I recommend is waiting to add the Panko breadcrumbs. Add those as close to serving as possible. That way they are still fresh and crunchy!
This delicious Fried Pickle Ranch Dip is the best dip for pickle lovers! It’s full of tons of flavor and is perfect for parties, game day, or an afternoon snack.
