What Is Self Care?
Simply looking after yourself – putting time and effort into choosing to do things that make you feel good and promote wellbeing and happiness. It feels good to feel good!
What Are Self Care Activities?
They can literally be anything that makes you feel good – as simple as spending 5 minutes meditating or 10 minutes sat with your feet up and a cup of tea.
Maybe taking a 10 minute walk each day or even just making a to-do list or organising your day so it runs more smoothly – anything that promotes good feelings and wellbeing.

We LOVE our feel good monthly challenges – it just takes a little focus and effort each day to make sure I always squeeze in something that’s nice, makes me happy or is just good for my wellbeing.
My Self Care Ideas And Self Care Checklist For April
If you’re joining in our self care April, remember – you don’t have to do them all, just do what feels good for you. This is a nice thing to do – it shouldn’t cause you any stress or pressure.
1 – Self Care Ideas – Try Tai Chi
Fitting in time to practice some tai chi is a really nice thing – we absolutely love doing the Wudang Zidong tai chi routines on TikTok. I find these super relaxing and the balance ones are especially good for me.
2 – Breakfast In Bed – feel good ideas
Plan ahead with this one and get yourself something nice for breakfast, try cinnamon rolls, fruit and yogurt bowls and great coffee. Make yourself up a tray and head back to bed.
3 – Spring Clean
Now spring is truly upon us, nothing feels better than a top to bottom declutter and clean up at home. A freshly spring cleaned home feels just so great to be in. It leaves me feeling organised, happy and totally on-top of the chores. Grab all our spring cleaning checklists here and work your way through room by room.
4 – Tech Free Day
Every now and then it is great to switch off the tech, put down your phone, turn off social media and have a tech-distraction free day. See how you feel at the end of it – Did you miss it?
Maybe it’ll kick start a reset of how you use technology in future. Or maybe you’ll miss it and be glad to get back online feeling refreshed!
5 – Give Nature A Home – Feel Good Activities
This can be anything that contributes towards welcoming wildlife to your outdoor space. From planting some pots of wildflowers to attract bees and butterflies. To creating a garden pond, bird feeders, or bee hotels. Look at your space and see how you can make it more appealing to nature.
6 – Line Dried Bedding – Feel Good Ideas
Nothing feels as nice as getting into a freshly made bed when it’s been dried outdoors on the washing line. Simple things feel so good.
7 – Bring In Spring – Feel Good Activities
Adding a touch of spring to your home is always a mood booster. Vases of tulips, blossoms or daffodils brighten up rooms. Or try stems of pussy willow in vases. Hang spring wreaths on the doors and string up some spring bunting.
8 – Do Some Gardening – Feel Good Ideas
Tidying up the garden ready for summer, planting new plants, flowers and tubs. Maybe sowing vegetable seeds in the greenhouse all feel great.
9 – Air The House – Self Care Ideas
A well aired house always feels better to be in. It always lifts my mood if the house smells fresh and I can see curtains blowing in the breeze. I find airing the bedroom especially important it definitely helps me to sleep better.
10 – Drink Water – Self Care Ideas
This is a super quick win when it comes to self care and feeling good! If you swap out the soda and some caffeinated drinks and drink water instead it’s more hydrating, and means consuming less sugar, sweetener and chemicals.
11 – Meditate
Schedule in time a couple of times a week to really practice meditation. Focus on you and feeling good.
12 – Afternoon Nap – Self Care Ideas
Oh, let me tell you… an afternoon nap in the sun just feels so decadent and delicious! It’s the perfect way to spend an hour. Simply rest.

13 – Make A Retreat Corner – Self Care Activities
This is one of my favourite things to do, it almost has a childlike quality to it. Find yourself a corner, it can just be a chair in a quiet corner or it can be any empty space at home that works for you. Make it cosy, turn it into your nook. Add blankets, throws, cushions, make it a great place to escape to and snuggle.
14 – Create A Magical Outdoor Space – Feel Good Activities
You can make even a tiny outdoor space magical. Up-cycle an old shed, paint up some old garden furniture, add planters, fairy lights, candles. Create a really nice space that feels good to be in, and remember this can be a work-in-progress you can just make a start and add to it when you can.
15 – Garden Picnic
Pack up a gorgeous picnic, your favourite sandwiches, savoury treats like sausage rolls, cheese and onion pasties, or go continental with Spanish tortilla and patatas bravas, olives and antipasti. Choose some nice dessert items like fruit salads or cakes – pack up a cooler, add some drinks and head out to the garden for the afternoon.
16 – Watch The Sun Rise – Self Care Activities
Look at the weather forecast, pick a nice day and get up early to watch the sunrise, you can do this from an open window, a balcony, garden, park or head out to the countryside or beach.
17 – Mini Meditation – Try a 5 Minute Daily Meditation
Squeezing in super short meditations for me just means taking time to relax and reset. If I can fit one in after the chaos of the school run and before starting work I do. Otherwise I try to do one at lunchtime as a reset before my afternoon work schedule. I like to use meditations from the Mindful Movement on YouTube or the Apple Fitness+ meditations. Both feel good!
18 – Daily Gratitude – Wellbeing Activities
This one is great to fit into your day and as a mood booster. When you wake up, just spend a few minutes thinking of 3 things you’re truly grateful for. It really helps set a positive mindset for the day. You could swap this to the end of the day and do before you go to bed. Reflecting on your day.
19 – Infused Shower – Self Care Activities
Eucalyptus showers are super nice! The shower steam causes the fresh eucalyptus stems to release their lovely scent. Great for an invigorating morning shower. Find out more about the benefits and cautions of Eucalyptus showers here.
20 – Don’t Complain
You are going to be totally taken aback over how hard this is! How often do you find yourself thinking or saying negative things? Little complaints inside your head about having to do chores, commute, work… etc etc. Spend the day putting a positive spin on EVERYTHING. How does that make you feel?
21 – Take An Outdoor Walk 3 – 4 Times A Week – Wellbeing tips
Schedule in time to take an outdoor walk at least 3 or 4 times a week (everyday if you can manage it) again, start small, just 10-15 minutes will do.
Not only does it help you hit your step-count but spending time out in nature and fresh air is good for you full stop! It counts as exercise, helps you get your 10000 steps in and gets you into healthy habits.
22 – Eat Your 5-A-Day – Self Care Ideas
Try to eat a wide variety of different coloured fruits and vegetables. Squeeze in at least 5 portions a day. Aiming for 7-8 is better but getting your basic 5 is a great start. And it doesn’t have to be hard work.
Add a portion of fruit to your breakfast, swap out a junky snack for veggie sticks and salsa, add vegetables to your plate at lunch and dinner. Serve fruit a
23 – Journal
Journalling can be a really positive way of getting on paper your emotions, wants, feelings, aims and life goals, It can help you to feel like you’re making progress towards achieving what you want. Help you to motivate yourself. You can use a regular pen and paper journal or jotter. Or try one of the many journalling apps.
24 – Daily Positive Affirmations
Starting every day with daily positive affirmations I find is a great way to switch my internal narrative to a positive goal-getting one! It helps me to focus, move forwards and believe in myself.
