This copycat recipe uses simple ingredients to recreate this delicious drink. Pretend you’re enjoying an afternoon at Disney with a Frozen Avocado Margarita.
Ingredients for This Frozen Avocado Margarita
- Tequila – Silver tequila, also called blanco tequila, is the best tequila for this cocktail. Silver tequila has a stronger, clearer taste than gold tequila. It is better for flavored margaritas because it doesn’t mask the additional flavors.
- Melon Liqueur – This vibrant green liqueur is sweet with a delicious melon flavor. Midori is one of the most well-known melon liqueurs, but you can use any brand. It is made with Japanese muskmelons
- Triple Sec – This orange liqueur enhances the fruity flavors of the margarita. Substitute triple sec for Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or any other orange liqueur you have on hand.
- Agave Nectar- This natural sweetener has a neutral, but sweet flavor. If you don’t have agave substitute it with simple syrup. Or use simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter margarita.
- Lime Juice – No margarita is complete without a bit of fresh lime juice. It adds a distinct margarita flavor and a bit of bright, citrus to the drink.
- Avocado – This recipe doesn’t use a lot of avocado. Half of an avocado is perfect for two margaritas. It gives the margarita a creamy texture and cuts the sweetness. Be sure to use a ripe avocado. An unripe avocado will leave chunks behind in the drink.
- Ice – Add a handful or two of ice to give this cocktail its thick, slushie consistency.
How to Make a Frozen Avocado Margarita
This Disney copycat Avocado Margarita recipe is one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had. It’s creamy, tangy, and an all-around amazing drink. Plus, they are easy to make at home with a blender!
Step One – Add tequila, melon liqueur, triple sec, lime juice, syrup, and half of an avocado to a blender.
Step Two – Add a handful of ice cubes to the blender. Then firmly place the lid on the blender. Blend until the cocktail reaches the consistency of a slushie. Add more ice as needed.
Step Three – Pour the frozen margarita into a glass with a Tajin rim and enjoy!
*Optional* – This cocktail is pretty by itself, so it doesn’t need a garnish. However, you may add a slice of avocado or a lime wheel to garnish.
What Type of Glass Do I Use?
- Margarita glass – Margarita glasses are ideal for frozen margaritas. They have a stem and a wide mouth. The stem allows you to hold the cocktail without it melting from the warmth of your hands.
- Short tumbler – Not everyone has a set of margarita glasses at home. So a short tumbler, or rocks glass, is also great for a margarita.

How to Rim a Glass with Tajín
Many margaritas have a salted rim. Adding salt to the rim of a margarita glass enhances the flavor of a good margarita. It also adds a fun and beautiful touch to the drink. This cocktail uses a Tajin seasoning rim instead. Tajín is a Mexican spice mix made with lime, chili peppers, and salt. Avocado has a mild flavor, so the Tajin is a nice addition of spice.
First, run a slice of lime along the rim of each margarita glass. This creates a wet and sticky surface for the salt to stick to.
Next, flip the glass upside down and place it in a shallow bowl of margarita salt or Tajin. Margarita salt is a coarse salt made of bigger salt flakes. So they are more visible. It also has a better flavor. If you make a lot of margaritas, consider buying a salt rimmer.
Another option is to add Tajin to a smaller area of the class. Rub a wedge of lime on a quarter of the glass, then roll that section of the glass in the Tajin. This method looks gorgeous but also means you control whether or not you get Tajín in each sip.
Can I Make This Margarita in Advance?
Yes! Margaritas are great for making ahead of time! Blend all of the ingredients. Then store the frozen margaritas in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 days. The alcohol should keep the margaritas from freezing completely.
Make Avocado Margaritas in Bulk!
Since this delicious margarita stores so well, it’s also great for making in bulk. Multiply the ingredients by the number of guests you wish to serve. Then mix all of the ingredients in the blender. Depending on the number of guests, you may need to blend several batches!
The creamy margarita is a delicious and unique drink. It’s perfect for Cinco de Mayo cocktails or just an evening at home with takeout.
